About me
Development and Peace-Caritas Canada is the official international development arm of the Catholic Church in Canada. Established by the Canadian Catholic bishops after Vatican II, in 1967, Development and Peace for 55 years has been a democratic movement for international solidarity and supports partners in the Global South in pursuit of alternatives to unjust social, political and economic structures. We educate Canadians about the causes of impoverishment of peoples and mobilize actions for change. We have a proven track record of selecting and supporting partners whose programs make a tangible and lasting impact locally and internationally, including four Nobel Peace Prize Recipients.
Development and Peace is pleased to offer Curricular Resources from Kindergarten to Grade 12 on Religious Education, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Science – in French and English.
Development and Peace works with partners in Catholic education to produce relevant resources that are aligned with curriculum expectations. Although the curriculum links specified in the resources published in January 2017 and February 2018 are to the Alberta Education Programs of Studies, they can be easily adapted by educators in other provinces and to non-Catholic audiences.
As well, this year we have launched a new and exciting D&P School program that allows, students, classes and schools to earn badges by completing challenges and activities around a number of development, environmental and human rights issues.
